The Ring Is a Horror Film.

The opening scene of this film is very typical of a horror film; A vulnerable girl home alone, late at night. while creepy, out of the norm things are going on round the house. This would be like things opening and turning on by them selves, creaky floorboards and draughts of air. Which would in doubtubly leave the the audience in the edge of there seat waiting to see where the storyline progresses.

The start of the expendables is very much cliche of an action film, Firstly its in a foreign country Somalia and shows shifty black market dealings going on between some low class never American villains, (which will then most likely be connected to a higher power later on in the film) who wants to take. Then the 'badass' heroes roll in on there choppers iconically to get the bad guys. They then sneak in say something cool  before they open hell with their machine guns that never seem to run out of ammo.

Another cliche to pick up on is the fact that the baddy has a valuable hostage used as a human bidy shield.
